Economic & Community Development

ME&A creates solutions for governments, community organizations associations, development organizations and other institutions in fostering healthy local economies; effective, efficient, and responsive local and regional economic development processes; community building and shelter programming through the following services:

	Regional and local economic development planning and implementation
	Participatory strategic planning for economic development regions and municipalities	ME&A staff planned and implemented Neigborhood Strategy Area program in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
	Policy and program analysis of national legislation, programs, and mandates affecting state, regional, and local governments in areas of economic and community development
	Community organization building, including organizational development of community based organizations (NGOs) engaged in community improvement, housing and economic development
	Land use and location analysis, municipal and regional planning, property tax and cadastral information, and demographic and social analysis through the application of GIS, Land Information Systems, automated mapping, and facilities management
	Urban planning, zoning, and land development for municipal agencies and private developers
	Coalition building between public agencies and business, economic, and community development groups through public-private partnerships
	Association development, including local and regional associations, mayors and municipal associations, business and trade associations, and community-based private organizations (NGOs)
	Development and implementation of economic, community development and shelter conferences, training seminars and workshops
	Housing policy development, including analysis of housing needs, establishment of goals, and design of mechanisms to achieve goals and improve housing conditions
	Analysis and evaluation of existing housing and community development programs for local governments, housing agencies and private clients
	Development of proposals for housing projects, including new construction and rehabilitation of existing structures, multi-family rental and owner-occupied projects
	Planning and implementation of interim and emergency shelter programs
